Market House

Market House is a period cottage on the main street of Abbotsbury, set back from the road behind a front garden. It runs over three floors and has beams, winding staircases and low ceilings. Downstairs there is a kitchen/diner with an electric range-style cooker, an integrated fridge and freezer and a dishwasher, a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a cloakroom with a WC and basin. The living and dining area has a wood-burning stove, and there is a separate sitting room.

A few small steps lead up from the kitchen to a conservatory, which opens onto a private courtyard patio with a bench and bistro-style seating. On the first floor are a double bedroom, a twin with a feature fireplace, and a shower room with a walk-in shower. The top floor has the main double, whose en-suite has a freestanding bath with a shower over it, a WC and a basin.

Six guests can stay. Books, games and DVDs are provided, along with two TVs and WiFi. Electric central heating is fitted. Power, bed linen and towels are included, and so are an initial supply of logs and a starter pack. The owners provide a permit for off-road parking close to the property. The pub is 0.2 miles away and the shops 0.1 miles.

Children must be 12 or older, pets are not allowed, and the cottage is non-smoking. A good-housekeeping bond is payable. Stays start on a Saturday, and anyone wanting a different start day should ask first. The winding staircases, beams and low ceilings may not suit anyone with limited mobility. Market House suits three couples, or a group of adult friends or a family with teenagers.
