The Lyme Regis Fossil Festival takes over the town on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 June 2027. Lyme Regis Museum organises it, and the setting suits it: Mary Anning found her famous fossils on the shore here, and the beaches below the town still give up ammonites.
The festival centres on exhibitions, interactive displays and stalls, expert talks on geology and palaeontology, street performances, meet-the-author sessions and creative activities for all ages. Lyme Regis Museum also runs guided fossil walks. The 2027 programme has not been released, but the 2026 edition shows the layout: traders selling fossils, minerals and crafts in marquees in Lister Garden and along Marine Parade, interactive displays from museums including the Natural History Museum and Dinosaur Isle in a central hub, and walks on Black Ven beach.
Entry to the exhibition venues was free in 2026, with a small charge for walks and talks. Some shows at the Marine Theatre and Jurassic Coast boat trips from The Cobb are booked separately.
