Millmead House

Millmead House is a farmhouse in Portesham, within the Dorset National Landscape. It sleeps eight across four bedrooms, and the shop, pub and cafe are all within easy walking distance. The garden has a lawn, a patio with furniture and, at its far boundary, a gentle stream.

The king-size bedroom has zip and link beds, so it can be set as twins on request. One double has an en-suite walk-in shower, and the other double and the single bedroom complete the set. All four bedrooms are upstairs. A trundle bed with the single takes the total to eight, and it must be requested at least 7 days before arrival. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over, and there is a cloakroom with a WC.

The open-plan space has a kitchen with a range cooker and gas hob, a dishwasher and a washing machine, plus a dining area and a sitting area. A second living and dining room has a woodburning stove and a day bed, and leads into a conservatory. There is a TV, WiFi and a selection of books. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included.

The stove starter pack is provided from 1 October to 31 March, and guests buy their own logs, kindling and firelighters. Arrivals are on Fridays and Mondays only, with a five-night minimum from 1 July to 30 September. Off-road parking is for two cars. One well-behaved dog is welcome, there is no smoking and a bond is payable. The annex can be booked alongside for two more guests. It suits a family or friends sharing for a week.
