Olive Tree Cottage in Portesham dates back in part to 1642 and sleeps six in three bedrooms. The shop is 350 metres away, the pub 150 metres and the beach 3 miles. Weymouth and Dorchester are each 8 miles off.

The lounge has an inglenook fireplace that now holds an electric heater, a Smart TV and a low ceiling: it is 6ft 3in high with a lower beam, which is worth knowing for tall guests. The kitchen/diner has a dining table for six, an electric oven, grill and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a Nespresso Essenza machine, a dishwasher and a washing machine. It opens into a morning room with a corner bar and French doors to the courtyard garden. A family bathroom sits on the ground floor. Upstairs are three bedrooms: a king-size and a double, both with a TV and one with an en-suite shower room, plus a twin.

The courtyard garden is private, with garden furniture for eating outside and a mature olive tree. Private parking is for 1 car. A travel cot, a highchair and a stairgate are provided, but bring your own cot bedding. A welcome pack is included.

Up to two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. The cottage suits a family with a baby or toddler, or a group of friends with a dog, who are happy to share one car space and a low-beamed lounge.
