The Old Sweet Shop

The Old Sweet Shop stands next to the owner's own house in Portesham. The cottage has been extended, overlooks the village and is entered through the kitchen at the rear. It sleeps five, and the pub is 200 metres away with a shop 400 metres off.

The kitchen has a vaulted, beamed ceiling, a range oven, an American-style fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a microwave. A lounge, a snug and a dining room each give a place to sit, and the snug has an open fire with logs included from October to the end of April. There is also a utility room and a ground-floor shower room with WC. Heating is by electric panel heaters, and electricity is included. Upstairs are a double room, a single room and a second double with a 6ft bed that can be made up as a twin on prior request, along with a bathroom with a shower over the bath.

At the back, the garden has a terrace with outdoor furniture, a lawn, a rockery, a pergola and raised beds, and it is surrounded by stone walls. Eight steps lead up to the former farmyard. Parking is ample and off-road. A high chair and a travel cot are available.

One dog is allowed, and additional charges may apply. The coast is 2.5 miles away and Weymouth 7.5 miles. It suits a family or small group of up to five, with a dog if they have one.
