Stour Mill Barn

Stour Mill Barn is a detached former barn at the end of a narrow country lane in Durweston, 3 miles north of Blandford Forum. It sits beside a similar property and the owners' home. Walking routes include the River Stour and the Iron Age ramparts of Hod Hill nearby, and the shop and the pub are within a mile.

The open-plan living space has a vaulted ceiling, original beams and doors on three sides. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. A Smart TV and sofas fill the living area. One double bedroom and a shower room with a WC are on the ground floor, and a second double is on an open mezzanine under the eaves, where headroom is restricted, particularly above the bed. A highchair is available.

The garden is fully enclosed, with a patio, a lawn, furniture and a charcoal BBQ. The owner has a private stretch of the Stour, where guests can launch canoes if they bring them, and fishing is possible by arrangement with the owner. The grounds have resident guinea fowl, ponies and sheep, and an outside play area can be arranged with the owner.

Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. Dogs must not be left unattended in the property at any time, and must be on leads in the shared grounds. Check-in is from 2.30pm. For a short break, call to enquire first. The barn suits two couples or a family of four who want fishing, canoeing and walking.
