Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week runs from Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 August 2027, nine days of family events around Marine Parade that raise money for the town’s RNLI lifeboat crew. The week is organised by RNLI volunteers.
What happens
The 2026 week gives a good idea of the format: an opening ceremony, a lifeboat welcome display, the bathtub race, a fun run, a swimming challenge and a duck race. Every day brought attractions for children, including crab fishing and sandcastle competitions, kite making and pavement art, plus a water or wine tombola. Search and rescue demonstrations by the local volunteer crews are part of the mix, and music runs on most evenings.
Flying displays are a feature. In 2026 two privately owned Supermarine Spitfires from Dunkeswell Aerodrome, near Honiton, were billed for 6pm on the Wednesday. The 2026 week also marked 200 years of lifesaving in Lyme Regis, and the volunteers produced a souvenir programme that sold for £3.
