4 Lymbrook Cottages

4 Lymbrook Cottages is one of four former mill workers' cottages dating from the 19th century, in the Jericho part of Lyme Regis. The River Lym runs alongside the house. Downstairs are a sitting room with a brick-built fireplace and a window seat, a dining area, a kitchen with an electric oven, microwave and fridge/freezer, and a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Heating is by energy-efficient inverter radiators, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

The two bedrooms are upstairs: a double, and a twin with its own basin. The shower room, with a corner walk-in shower, is on the same floor. The staircase is steeper and narrower than in modern homes and has a rope banister, and some doorways are low, so the cottage may not suit young children or anyone with mobility concerns. A maximum of two children can be booked in, and the river calls for supervision of children at all times.

The enclosed front garden has a lawn, a patio and furniture and is shared with the other three cottages. A small private seating area at the back, off the kitchen, overlooks the river. One small well-behaved dog is welcome, but the cottage is unsuitable for large dogs. There is no parking at the door: you can pull up briefly to unload, and long-stay car parks a short walk away sell weekly tickets. A Good Housekeeping bond is payable. The pub is 0.3 miles away and the shop 0.4, and the town centre and seafront are a ten-minute riverside walk through the Old Town. It suits a couple, or a small family with a small dog, who are happy with steep stairs.
