Ancient Lights

Ancient Lights is a traditional cottage built in 1830 and formerly a ship master's residence, overlooking the town and seaside of Lyme Regis. The sitting room has blue sofas and a woodburning stove, and the kitchen/diner has sage cupboards, a tiled floor and an extra leather sofa. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge with ice box, a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a dishwasher.

The super-king-size bedroom has a fireplace, a writing desk and a window seat with a view across the bay. The twin bedroom has an ornamental fireplace and a window seat. One bathroom serves the cottage. The banister rails on the staircase make it impossible to fit stairgates, though a highchair is available on request.

The rear garden is enclosed, with a lawn, gravel and seating, and it has storage for kayaks and bikes. Off-road parking is for two cars. Gas heating is fitted, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, and there is a TV, a DVD player, a Bluetooth sound bar and WiFi.

The shop is 0.4 miles away and the pub 0.3 miles. No pets and no smoking, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a family or two couples bringing kayaks or bikes, though the staircase rules out stairgates for small children.
