Apt 1 at 44/45 Coombe Street is a first-floor apartment in the middle of Lyme Regis, in a building that dates back to the 1600s. High ceilings, exposed wooden beams and whitewashed stone walls run through the rooms. The sitting room has a sofa, a Smart TV and an electric coal-effect fire, and there is a kitchen and a dining room. Four people fit: one double bedroom and one twin.

The kitchen has a gas range cooker, a microwave and a fridge with no ice box. The washer/dryer is not in the flat but in an outbuilding. The single bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a basin and a WC. Central heating, WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included, and on arrival you find a welcome pack with milk, tea and locally sourced produce.

Access is the main thing to weigh up. The flat is reached by an internal winding staircase that is narrow and steep, and there are a few more steps inside, so it is not suited to anyone with limited mobility. It also sits above a restaurant, which in the summer months runs as a bar with background music from 5pm to 10.30pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. No pets and no smoking.

There is no parking at the door. One permit is supplied for Woodmead car park on Hill Road, within five minutes' walk, with no allocated space and subject to availability. The shop is 0.3 miles away, a pub 0.1 miles and the beach 0.2 miles. The flat suits a family of four, or two couples, who are comfortable with a steep staircase and want to leave the car parked while they stay.
