Avocet

Avocet is a split-level apartment on Marine Parade in Lyme Regis, newly reconfigured and refurbished. The first floor has a lounge with a TV and a double bedroom that looks across Marine Parade, with an en-suite shower room beside it.

Up on the second floor, the kitchen and dining area sit under vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, and a small balcony leads off it. The kitchen has an electric oven, grill and hob, a fridge-freezer, a washing machine and tumble dryer, a dishwasher and a coffee machine, and an initial supply of pods is left for guests. The king-size bedroom on this floor has zip-and-link beds, so say when booking whether you want a king or a twin. A walk-in shower room with a heated towel rail and a separate cloakroom complete the floor. Low beams run throughout.

Outside, a small enclosed courtyard has steps up to decked seating areas with a table and chairs and sun loungers, looking over the beach, the town and the coastline. Parking is a private allocated space a short walk from the apartment, not at the door. The pub is opposite and the shop 0.2 miles away.

No pets and no smoking. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits two couples, or friends, who do not mind stairs between floors and steps in the garden.
