Cobblers Cottage

Cobblers Cottage was built around 1750 and is one of the oldest thatched cottages in the hamlet of Langton Herring, on the Jurassic Coast. A short walk through the fields reaches The Fleet Lagoon, where the South West Coast Path runs beside the water. Weymouth is 5.5 miles away and the nearest shop is 2.5 miles.

The living room has an inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, and logs are included. There is also a separate dining room, a kitchen and a utility. Upstairs, reached by straight stairs with a banister, the double bedroom has a TV and an en-suite with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, basin and WC, with a low beam to watch for in the shower. The twin shares the ground-floor bathroom, which has a bath with a shower over.

The cottage has two steps up from the living room to the kitchen, and four steps from the patio to the garden, which is multi-level with a large lawn, tables and benches. Shop Lane is too narrow to park outside except to unload. Parking is unrestricted along the left side of the lane opposite the cottage, and the pub opposite may allow its car park if you ask the landlady.

Two well-behaved pets are welcome. Smoking, candles and barbecues are not allowed. The minimum stay is three nights, check-in is 4pm and check-out 10am, and a bond is payable. Babies are accepted, and guests bring their own bedding for the cot. It suits two couples or a small family who like quiet walks.
