George Cottage

George Cottage sits in a quiet square in Lyme Regis and sleeps four in two bedrooms. A bakery is 50 metres away, a pub 150 metres, the beach 300 metres and a shop 500 metres. The front door opens from the street into a lounge with exposed stonework, a Smart TV and an electric flame-effect fire.

The kitchen and dining room lie past the foot of the stairs, with an electric oven, a ceramic hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a farmhouse table, and French windows at the end. There are puzzles, games and books, and a selection of beach equipment guests can use. Steep cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor, which has a double bedroom, a twin whose zip-and-link beds can become a super-king if arranged in advance, and the family bathroom with a bath and shower.

Those stairs are the main restriction. They are steep and unguarded, so infants and children under 6 are not accepted, and the cottage is unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The shared courtyard has folding chairs. Private parking for one car is 200 metres from the cottage, though guests can unload and load beside it.

Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. The cottage suits a couple, two couples, or a family with children over 6 who can manage steep stairs.
