Sea View - Acton

Sea View is a detached house built of Purbeck stone in the hamlet of Acton, in the Langton Matravers area. The road into the hamlet is unmade, and the house sits next to the owners' home, with privacy kept. The views run over Swanage Bay and beyond to the Isle of Wight.

The ground floor has a snug with a TV, a utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer, a shower room with a WC, a kitchen and breakfast room with a range-style electric cooker, a dishwasher, a microwave and an American-style fridge/freezer, a dining room with a wood burner and a lounge with a second wood burner and a TV/DVD. The first floor has a twin, a double and a bathroom with a bath, a separate shower and a WC. A narrow, steep staircase leads to two attic bedrooms, a nautical twin and a king-size with an en-suite shower and WC. The house has changes of level and restricted head height throughout.

The lawn at the front has garden furniture and is enclosed by a low stone wall, which is only half height at the back, so children and pets need watching. One car can park beside the house. Up to three more spaces can be arranged on request, 150 metres away. A rural campsite nearby runs in the summer and may bring occasional noise. Up to two dogs can come, and extra charges may apply. Guests arrive from 17:00 and leave before 10:00. The beach is 3 miles away, the shop 2 miles and the pub within walking distance. The house suits a family or two couples with dogs who can cope with steep stairs.
