The Old Bakery - Durweston
Thatched 18th-century Durweston cottage for 4 with two wood burners
The Old Bakery is an 18th-century thatched cottage in Durweston, with cob walls, exposed beams and oak flooring, in countryside near Blandford Forum. It sleeps four in two king-size bedrooms upstairs. The pub is a mile away, the shops and restaurants are 3 miles and the beach is 22 miles.
The dining hall has an original inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, and the lounge has a second wood burner, with the first basket of logs provided. The country kitchen has a Rangemaster electric oven, a gas hob, a Smeg fridge/freezer, a washing machine and a dishwasher. The lounge has a Smart TV, a DVD player and a radio. A highchair and a welcome pack are provided. A study with a workstation is on the ground floor.
The family bathroom has a bath with a hand-held shower and a WC. The other shower room is in an external annexe, reached through the garden, so it is not inside the cottage. The cottage garden is enclosed, with a patio, outdoor furniture and a lawn, with steps from the patio to the lawn. There is storage for bikes. Parking is private on the drive, with more on the street.
No BBQs or naked flames are allowed because of the thatch. The stairs are in the original cottage style, and levels and ceiling heights vary. Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. The cottage suits a couple or a pair of friends who like old buildings and wood fires.
