Tillys Cottage

Tillys Cottage is in Bothenhampton, a village less than a mile from Bridport, and stands just off Main Street along a no-through road leading to a nature reserve. The shop and pub are 0.5 miles away and the beach is 1.5 miles. The cottage was once a barn and keeps its beams and reclaimed stone walls.

The layout is upside-down. You enter through the rear door from the garden onto the ground floor, where there are two bedrooms: a king-size, and a 3-foot single with a 2'6" trundle bed that can be added on request when booking. The king-size room has an en-suite shower room, tucked between the wardrobes, and there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The cottage is booked for three guests.

Cottage-style stairs, which are steep, lead up to the first floor. Here an open-plan kitchen/dining room looks over open countryside, with an electric oven, a gas hob, a fridge with a freezer box, a washing machine and a microwave. The lounge has a Smart TV, sofas, skylights and a wood burner-effect electric fire, and there is a second WC on this level.

A stable door on the ground floor opens to the enclosed south-facing rear garden, which has furniture. Off-road parking for two cars is private. Guests can also ask for a travel cot and highchair. One dog may stay, and additional charges may apply. The cottage suits a couple, or a couple with one child, who are comfortable with steep stairs and want the bedrooms next to the garden door.
