Waverley

Waverley is a cottage in Lyme Regis, reached along a quiet pedestrian-only lane. Cars cannot pull up outside, and the lane is on a hill, so a trolley is kept in the cottage for carrying bags between the car and the front door. A permit is supplied for the Woodmead car park on Hill Road, within five minutes' walk, but it comes with no allocated space and depends on availability. The shop is within 0.1 miles and the pub within 0.2.

The open-plan living area combines the kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area, and the sitting area has a woodburning stove. The kitchen has an electric oven, a hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a toaster, a kettle and a washing machine, and there are a TV and WiFi. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, and a highchair is provided.

Upstairs are a double and a twin bedroom, with sloped ceilings and restricted head room in places. A bathroom with a bath and a shower over it is joined by a ground-floor shower room with a walk-in shower. Outside, a decked veranda looks over the town, and steps lead down to an enclosed courtyard with a table and chairs. A good-housekeeping bond is payable.

Pets are allowed; ask the owner how many when booking, and smoking is not allowed. The cottage suits a family of up to four, or two couples, who are happy to wheel their luggage along a pedestrian lane on a hill and climb the stairs to bed.
