Bobbin Cottage

Bobbin Cottage is an 18th-century stone cottage in Langton Matravers, a village 2.7 miles from Swanage. It sleeps two in a single bedroom and stands between two adjoining family dwellings, with the owner's home next to it. The building once formed part of one of the earliest department stores in the UK.

Cars stay on the road: the cottage sits 30 yards back from the roadside along a private paved walkway, so the last stretch to the door is on foot. Downstairs is one open-plan room for cooking, eating and sitting, with a Smart TV, WiFi and a cloakroom with basin and WC. The kitchen has an electric oven, a two-ring induction hob, a microwave, a fridge and a dishwasher. Heating is electric, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included.

The bedroom is upstairs. Its beds can be zipped and linked into a super king, and the owner needs seven days' notice to arrange the linen for that set-up. The en-suite has a bath with a shower over, a basin, a heated towel rail and a WC. A highchair is available on request. Outside, a small enclosed private area holds a bistro table and chairs.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, though not upstairs or on the furniture. Smoking is not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. A pub is 0.3 miles away and the beach 2.5 miles. It suits a couple, with or without a dog, who are happy to park on the road and walk the last 30 yards.
