Budmouth

Farmland fills the view from Budmouth's floor-to-ceiling windows, which look up a sloping garden from the open-plan living area. The cottage is semi-detached, one of five on the site, on the edge of Upwey. Under the vaulted ceiling sit the kitchen, dining area and sitting area, and patio doors lead out to a private patio with furniture.

One well-behaved dog is welcome and must stay on a lead outside; kennels nearby can be rented by arrangement with the owner. There is off-road parking for one car, a shop and pub 10 minutes away on foot, and the beach at 3.5 miles. Smoking is not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

Sleeping is for four across two bedrooms. The king-size room is on the ground floor, with zip/link beds that can become twins on request. On the first-floor mezzanine is a double with an en-suite shower, basin and WC, under a sloping ceiling. A separate bathroom has a bath with a shower over.

The kitchen has an electric oven and ceramic hob, a microwave, a fridge with an icebox, a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. Three Smart TVs and WiFi are provided. Gas central heating is installed, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, and a travel cot and highchair can be requested. Beyond the patio, a shared hillside garden has picnic benches.

Budmouth can be booked with the four other cottages on the site, which sleep 24 together. On its own it suits a couple or a small family who want to bring a dog.
