Clapper Bridge Cottage

Clapper Bridge Cottage is a thatched house on a quiet no-through lane in Burton Bradstock. It sleeps six in three bedrooms, all on the first floor and reached by stairs, with a stairgate provided. Two are doubles, one of them with a feature fireplace and its own TV, and the third is a twin. The single bathroom has a shower over the bath and a WC.

Downstairs, the lounge has a gas fire with a wood-burner effect and a Smart TV with a DVD player, and the kitchen-diner is built around an AGA. Alongside it are an electric oven with induction hob, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer, a microwave and a Nespresso machine, though the pods are not supplied. There is a DAB radio in the kitchen, plus a selection of DVDs, books, games and children's toys. Towels are provided, but bring your own beach towels.

The enclosed walled garden at the back has a patio and garden furniture. It also holds a well and a pond, each covered by a locked grate. The thatch brings firm rules: no smoking, no barbecues and no candles. Parking is one space on the grass verge opposite the house, which is usually available, and there is more roadside parking nearby subject to availability.

One dog is allowed, and extra charges may apply. The beach, two pubs, a library, a playground, the Post Office and a village shop are all within walking distance. It suits a family of up to six who would rather leave the car on the verge and walk to the sand.
