Coastguard Cottage - Worth Matravers

Coastguard Cottage stands on a clifftop near Worth Matravers, in the same part of Purbeck as Langton Matravers. It was once two cottages. The approach is a 1.5 mile unmade track that is not suitable for cars with low ground clearance, and the pub and shop are both 1.5 miles away. The beach is 1 mile away and Chapman's Pool is within walking distance.

Most rooms have sea views, including every bedroom. There are two lounges. The first has two sofas, an armchair, a TV and heaters, and it opens into a second lounge with another open fire, toys and games. The kitchen has an AGA oven, a hob, a microwave, a small air fryer, a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer and a washing machine. The dining area has a wood-burning stove, but logs are not included. The cottage is not on mains water, so guests need to bring drinking water. Upstairs are four bedrooms, a king-size, two doubles and a twin, and a single bathroom with a shower over a three-quarter-size bath. Bed linen, heating and electric are included, and there are board games and Lego.

The lawned garden has a wall and a gate round it, but the gate is not secured and the clifftop lies beyond it, so children should not be left alone there. Parking for three cars is just outside. Two dogs are accepted and additional charges may apply. Guests may arrive from 16:00 and should depart before 10:00. The cottage suits a family or friends who want sea views and a quiet position and are happy to drive a long track.
