Cowslip Corner

Cowslip Corner sits on a 150-acre family-run farm at Higher Ansty, near Dorchester and close to Winterborne Stickland. Horses, sheep, ducks and geese live on the surrounding land. The owners keep a private pond that guests can fish all year without an extra charge, although anyone fishing needs their own Environment Agency licence.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, with the dining table beyond it. Two steps down from there is a lounge with a wood burner (wood supplied) and glass doors to the balcony. Both bedrooms are on this floor. The super-king bed in the first can be split into twins on request, and its en-suite bathroom, with a bath and WC, is reached by three steps. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, also available as twins, and a separate wet room with shower and WC completes the floor.

A first-floor lounge has a TV and DVD player. The day bed and pull-out single in the main bedroom are for children only, so adults use the two main beds. Wi-Fi signal can vary because of the rural position.

A split-level decked balcony with garden furniture runs along the front. An indoor exercise pool in the building next door can be hired for an extra charge and has to be requested when booking. It is 15 feet long, has three jets to swim against and is kept at about 31 degrees. The owners also run a 14-pitch campsite and three shepherd's huts, set away from the cottage, with the campsite facilities in an outbuilding beside it.

Up to three dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. The beach is 17 miles away, a pub and shop are within walking distance, and the nearest supermarkets are 10 miles off in Blandford Forum. The cottage suits a family or two couples who want a working farm with space for dogs.
