Downside

Downside is a self-contained wing of the owner's farmhouse on a working dairy farm, 0.75 miles from the village of Mosterton and near Beaminster. The cottage looks over the Axe Valley, and footpaths cross the farm's 180 acres. Because animals and farm machinery are about, young children need supervising at all times, and the farm has its own tested water supply.

There are two bedrooms: a double, and a single that has a pull-out stacker bed, so four can sleep here. The bathroom has a bath with a power shower over it, and the utility room holds a second basin and WC on the ground floor. The sitting room has an open fire, with fuel, power and a starter pack for the fire included in the rent, and the conservatory doubles as the dining area. The kitchen has an electric double oven, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washing machine in the utility room.

A Freeview TV, a DVD player and an Xbox with a few games are provided, along with books and games. A cot, highchair and stairgate can be requested.

Three well-behaved dogs are welcome, and they must be kept on a lead at all times. Outside there is a shared lawned garden and a small private sitting area with furniture and a barbecue. Off-road parking is ample, and an on-site EV charging point is available. The shop and pub are both a mile away. The cottage suits a couple or a small family with dogs who want farm walks from the door.
