Gallinae

Gallinae is a restored barn conversion in the village of Melbury Abbas, one of a complex of four properties near Shaftesbury. It sleeps eight. The living area is open plan under a vaulted ceiling, with countryside views, a snug with a Smart TV and a wood burner, and large glass doors to the patio.

All four bedrooms are upstairs, so there is no bedroom on the ground floor, which has the living area and a WC. The main bedroom has a super-king zip-and-link bed that can be set up as twins on request, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. Two bedrooms are king-size, and the fourth has a twin zip-and-link that can become a super-king. Ask for your bed layout when booking. A family bathroom has a shower over the bath, and each bedroom has a Smart TV.

The kitchen has two electric ovens, an induction hob, a microwave, an air fryer, three fridges, two freezers, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. Logs for the wood burner are included, but bring your own kindling. A travel cot and highchair are available. Underfloor heating runs downstairs and radiators upstairs.

The enclosed garden has a spacious patio, outdoor seating and a charcoal BBQ, and the private wood-fired hot tub comes with logs included. A shared open-sided games barn has table tennis and table football. Parking is private and ample. Shaftesbury town centre is within 2.7 miles along country lanes, and Breezy Ridge Vineyard and Compton Abbas airfield are within 1.3 miles on downward footpaths. Dogs are not allowed. Check-in is from 16:00. It suits two families sharing, with children who can manage stairs.
