Higher Burton Barn

Higher Burton Barn stands at the end of an unmade track at Higher Burton, among former farm workers' cottages, 1.5 miles from Dorchester. It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Three steps lead up to the porch, and children under 5 are not accepted.

Inside is an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. The lounge has a Smart TV with DVD and a wood burner, with logs included from October to the end of April. The kitchen has an oven, a hob, a microwave, a washing machine and a fridge with an ice compartment. Central heating, electricity and Wi-Fi are all included.

The double bedroom and the bathroom, which has a shower over the bath and a WC, are on the ground floor. A spiral staircase climbs past a small gallery with a low beam to the twin bedroom, which has two 2ft 6in single beds and a low, sloping ceiling; the beds can be made into a double on request.

To the front is a grassy area crossed by a public footpath, and behind the barn is a large L-shaped lawn with trees, shrubs and outdoor furniture. Off-road parking takes up to three cars. The shop is 1 mile away, the pub is within a mile and the coast is 10 miles. Two dogs can stay, with additional charges possible. The barn suits a couple, or a family with children aged 5 or over, who want a rural base close to Dorchester.
