Ilchester

Ilchester is a house with four bedrooms for eight guests, on a quiet road leading to the sea at West Bay. Beach, pubs, restaurants and shops are less than half a mile away. A few steps lead from the parking area to the front door, with a handrail beside them.

The sitting room has parquet flooring and a bay window, and the dining room and kitchen have bi-folding doors to a terrace with views of the sea. The kitchen has an oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, a Nespresso machine, a microwave and a dishwasher. A sun room beyond has a woodburner, supplied with logs and coal from October to April; kindling and firelighters are not included. French doors lead from the sun room to a balcony.

Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, a super-king and a twin, with a shower room. Winding stairs lead up to a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, which has a roll top bath and a separate walk-in shower, and a second twin. Both upstairs bedrooms have sea views and reduced ceiling height under the eaves, and the first floor also has a bathroom with a bath and shower overhead. The downstairs cloakroom holds a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The garden is enclosed and on three levels, with paths, lawn, raised borders, a terraced area, a BBQ and an outside tap for muddy boots and paws. Parking is off-road for two cars, with harbourside car parks as extra. Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is before 10am. The house suits a family or two couples with dogs who can manage a few steps and winding stairs.
