Libra Cottage

Libra Cottage is a thatched cottage in a terrace in Loders, a village near Bridport and close to Shipton Gorge. It dates from the 1740s and sleeps three: a double bedroom at the front and a single overlooking the garden, up winding stairs from the lounge. Maximum occupancy is three.

The lounge and dining area has an inglenook fireplace, a wood burner (the first basket of logs is included) and a Smart TV, though the terrestrial signal can be intermittent. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer and a washing machine, and the bathroom opens off it with a shower over the bath. The age of the building means low beams, vaulted ceilings and changes of level, and there are two steps up from the pavement and another into the lounge.

The rear garden is a fully enclosed terrace laid out on several levels, linked by steps, with a seating area at the top. Bikes can be stored in the garden, reached through the cottage. Parking is on the road in front, subject to availability. EV cars cannot be charged at the property, and the nearest charging points are in Bridport. The beach is 3.5 miles away, the shop 1.5 miles and the pub 1.6 miles.

Because of the thatch, smoking, candles and barbecues are not allowed close to the cottage. Children under 2 and babes in arms are not accepted. Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. It suits a couple, or two adults and an older child, travelling with a dog.
