Lilac Cottage

Lilac Cottage is a Grade II listed thatched house on the coast road through Burton Bradstock, modernised in a palette of greys with a renovated kitchen and bathroom. The wooden kitchen has a stone-tiled floor and a dining area.

Two bedrooms sleep four. One has a king-size bed that can be made up as a super-king if you ask before arrival, and the other has two single beds. The bathroom is on the ground floor, with a bath, a shower over, a basin and a WC. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a washing machine and a dishwasher. A cot, a highchair and a stairgate are available, though guests bring their own cot linen. Gas central heating and WiFi are included, along with bed linen and towels. A good-housekeeping bond is payable.

The front door is ornamental, so you enter by a side gate that opens straight onto the main coast road, and care is needed there. The garden is reached by steps and is enclosed, with a lawn, a patio and furniture. Parking is on the roads near the cottage. Naked flames such as candles are not allowed because of the thatch, and guests should not smoke near the cottage. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. A pub and a shop are under 5 minutes away, and a short walk across fields leads to Hive Beach. It suits a couple or small family with dogs.
