Melbury Cottage

Melbury Cottage is an 18th-century grade II mid-terrace house at Melbury Abbas, within Cranborne Chase and a short drive from Shaftesbury. It sleeps four, with a king-size bedroom, a twin and a single on the first floor. You enter by the back door, up a rear garden path.

The back door opens up a step into the kitchen, which looks over the garden and the hills, and has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine. More steps lead up to the sitting room, where the sofas are arranged around a wood burner. The first basket of logs is included from October to April. There is a Smart TV, and board games are provided. The only bathroom is reached through the sitting room and a study or reading area, and it has a rainfall shower over a bath and a WC. A staircase at the front goes up to the bedrooms.

The garden is enclosed, with a lawn, furniture and a summer house. Parking for two cars is off the road, at the end of the rear garden. The cottage is on a B road. Shops and pubs are 2.5 miles away.

Up to two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out before 10:00. It suits a couple with a dog or two, or a small family, who are happy with steps and stairs inside.
