Mill On The River

Mill On The River is a converted mill cottage on two levels at Stour Provost, a village near Gillingham and within reach of Motcombe. One other property shares the riverside spot. The cottage sleeps two, in a first-floor double bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, and it has a shower room with a WC.

You cross the gravel and step up through the door into an open-plan kitchen and dining room with exposed beams and stonework. One step down leads into the living room, where the old mill structure and workings can be seen. The mill wheel is behind the property and cannot be reached. Stairs from the lounge go up to the bedroom. Ceilings are low and sloping, with reduced head height.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer and a microwave. The cottage has a wood burner (the first basket is supplied), and the TV has a smart dongle for internet viewing. Outside is a garden laid to lawn with a table and chairs, and the cottage has direct river access. A public pathway runs along the river. The cottage has private parking for two cars.

The pub and shop are 2 miles away, there are supermarkets in Shaftesbury and Gillingham, and the beach is 27 miles. Dogs are not allowed. The cottage suits a couple who are comfortable with stairs and low ceilings and want to be beside a river.
