Old Higher Lighthouse Branscombe Lodge

Branscombe Lodge is a detached Grade II listed cottage at Portland Bill, on the Isle of Portland, just forty feet from the Old Higher Lighthouse. It is built upside down: the two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the ground floor, and the whole first floor is a sitting and dining room with windows on all four sides. From up there the views take in the sea and coast.

The ground-floor bedrooms are a double and a twin, and one bathroom has a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge, a washing machine and a dishwasher, plus an indoor airer and an outdoor drying line. Electric radiators heat the cottage, and power, bed linen and towels are included. There is a TV, WiFi, and a selection of books, games, CDs and DVDs. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, fruit and pastries or muffins is waiting.

The family-friendly extras are a travel cot and a highchair. Outside are a lawned area and a patio with furniture and an ornamental fish pond. Visitors also share the outdoor heated pool and Jacuzzi, open May to September, and the lighthouse observatory, reached by steep steps. Please supervise children near the pond and the cliff. The shop is 2 miles away and the pub a 5 minute walk. Parking is ample for cars and boats.

There is no smoking and no pets. The cottage suits a couple or a small family, and it is next to a sister cottage, so two families can book both and sleep eight between them.
