Osprey House Portland

Osprey House is on Officer's Field, a residential development on the edge of Portland that first housed the international team for the 2012 Olympic sailing events. The house rises over three floors and sleeps eight in four bedrooms, with a utility room on the ground floor and a kitchen with a dining area.

The ground-floor single has a second pull-out bed beneath it, which should be requested at booking so that linen is provided. The other bedrooms are a twin, a room of adult bunks and a second-floor king-size double with its own patio terrace and shower room, which can also be reached from the hallway. The other bathroom has a shower over, and a ground-floor cloakroom adds a further WC. Some of the bedding is feather.

Up on the first floor, the sitting room has large windows looking towards the Chesil bank in the distance. Patio doors open to an enclosed patio and a lawned garden. Two cars fit in the parking at the front; boat trailers are not allowed on the estate, and more parking is available on Lerret Road, a short walk away. A local bus stop is close to the house. The beach is about five minutes away and the shop and pub about ten.

Pets and smoking are not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. Stays shorter than three nights are by enquiry, and there is no electric car charging at the house. It suits a large family or a group of friends who want a garden and parking for two cars.
