Chesil Lookout

Chesil Lookout stands on a one-way street on the Isle of Portland, with panoramic views over Chesil Cove towards Clay Ope and Chesil Beach. The shop is 100 metres away, the pub is 150 metres and Chesil Beach is 400 metres. Seven steps lead up to the front door, and the tiled hall has space for boots and coats.

The ground-floor lounge and dining room has a wood burner, with logs included all year, and a bay window with sea views. The galley kitchen has a double oven, a five-ring hob, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a dryer and a microwave, and French doors out to the courtyard. On the half landing are a shower room and a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Three more steps lead up to the main lounge, which has leather sofas, a TV with a DVD player, an oak floor and a second bay window with sea views. Beside it is a zip-and-link twin room that can be made up as a 6ft double on request, and there are two steps between this room and the bathroom. The second floor has the double master bedroom and a twin.

The small courtyard garden is enclosed by Portland stone walls and has pots, hanging baskets and furniture. Parking is off-road for one car at the front, with more in the street.

This is not a dog-friendly house. It suits a family or three couples who want sea views from the sofa and do not mind several flights of stairs.
