Popplestones

Popplestones sits at the end of a terrace in Swanage, reached along a shared pathway to a private door. The beach, pubs and shops are within 500 metres. There is no parking at the cottage: the nearest on-street parking is within 30 metres, subject to availability, and loading and unloading close to the property is possible.

Inside, the open-plan lounge and dining area has a smart TV at the front and a dining area at the back, with the compact kitchen through a doorway. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine.

A steep, narrow staircase rises from the dining area to the first floor, where the king-size bedroom and the bathroom are. The bathroom has a bath, a separate shower and a WC. A further steep, narrow flight leads into the eaves to the twin bedroom, which has views across the rooftops to the distant hills and sea beyond. Head height is restricted in places in that room, and the stairs are open to it. Stair gates can be provided on request.

A door through a small porch leads to stone steps and a garden with furniture, established planting and natural stone paving, which is uneven in places. The garden is enclosed in parts by drystone walls, so take care with children, and climbing is not permitted. The adjoining neighbours have a right of access across the garden, which is rarely used. Dogs are not allowed. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out before 10am. The cottage suits a couple who are comfortable with steep stairs and want a garden near the beach.
