Puffin Lookout

Puffin Lookout is a second-floor apartment in a Victorian villa on the hill leading out of Swanage, one of five apartments in the building. The pub, shops and restaurants are 400 yards away, and the return walk is uphill, which matters once you are carrying shopping.

Getting in takes some climbing. Eight external steps lead to the shared hallway, a flight of stairs reaches the first-floor landing where the front door is, and two more flights inside the apartment bring you up to the living space, with a landing halfway for storage. Everything sits in the eaves, so some areas have restricted head height, and Velux windows bring in daylight. The lounge and dining area looks across the town and Swanage Bay, and the kitchen has sea views of its own.

There are two bedrooms: a double with sea views and a twin. The single bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, a basin and a WC. In the kitchen you will find an induction hob, a fridge with an ice box, a microwave and a washing machine. Wi-Fi is included, and the lounge has a TV with a DVD player and an iPod dock.

Parking is for one car at the front of the building. The apartment sleeps a maximum of four, children under 3 cannot be accommodated, the apartment is non-smoking and dogs are not allowed. It suits two couples or a small group who are comfortable with the stairs and an uphill walk home.
