Quarry Cottage

Quarry Cottage is a traditional cottage on Portland, with Chesil Cove less than 300 metres away on foot. The shop and the pubs are each 0.1 miles from the door. The cove has a restaurant, Quiddles, and the Cove House Inn along the promenade.

You enter up steps from the rear garden into the kitchen, which has an oven, a hob, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a brand new washing machine and a door out to a courtyard with a bench. The living and dining room has a woodburning stove in a stone fireplace, and the dining table seats four. Guests bring their own logs, kindling and firelighters. There is a Smart TV, fibre WiFi, gas central heating, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included.

Upstairs, up a steep staircase, the king-size bedroom has views of the sea and the twin looks over the garden. The bathroom has a bath and a walk-in shower, and a separate cloakroom has a basin and WC. The steps are worth knowing about: steep stone steps lead up to the garden, there is a small step from the kitchen to the dining room, and a small step down on the landing to the bathroom. The rear garden is enclosed, with a gravelled area and dining furniture.

Two public car parks nearby are free for 72 hours, and parking at the house itself is worth confirming when booking. One well-behaved dog is welcome, smoking is not, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. The cottage suits a couple or a family of four with a dog who are happy with steps and stairs.
