Safe Harbour

Safe Harbour is a restored three-storey house dating from the 1820s, beside the Old Harbour in Weymouth. Its bay windows look across the harbour, Newton's Cove is a two-minute walk, and Brewers Quay and Hope Square are just around the corner.

The ground floor has a large kitchen with a dining area and extra seating overlooking the harbour. On the first floor are a lounge with harbour views and a feature gas fire, and the en-suite king-size bedroom, which can be split into 2ft 6in beds. The second floor has two bedrooms, a super king-size that can be made up as 3ft twins and a 2ft 6in twin, plus the family bathroom with a bath and separate shower. With the annexe shower room, the house has three bathrooms. The 2ft 6in beds are described as suitable for children.

The narrow front door and staircase need to be noted by anyone with limited mobility. There is a small step into the house, two steps from the kitchen to a small courtyard with furniture, and two more to an annexe with the laundry room and a shower room.

Permit parking for one car in Zone L is provided, subject to spaces being free and council renewal, and a space cannot be guaranteed. Harbourside parking is limited to one hour, though cars can unload outside the door. Fayre in the Square, usually on the late May Bank Holiday weekend, and the Wessex Folk Festival, usually the first weekend of June, close the harbour and Hope Square to traffic, with some road closures and parking restrictions. One well-behaved dog is welcome, but not in the bedrooms or on furniture. Smoking is not allowed. The house suits a group of up to six, or a family with one dog, who want to be right on the harbour.
