Sturminster Newtons Old Coach House

Sturminster Newtons Old Coach House is a detached house for two a short walk from the centre of Sturminster Newton. Thomas Hardy made his home in the town, which has a water mill, an arched bridge and the River Stour running through it, and the beach is 20 miles away. Shops and pubs are within walking distance.

The ground floor holds the lounge and dining area, with floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable seating, a TV and a DVD player. Beyond the dining table the kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, a fridge with an ice compartment and a washing machine. The bathroom, also downstairs, has a shower over the bath and a WC. Stairs lead from the lounge to the only bedroom, in the eaves, with a super-king-size bed, sloping ceilings, wooden beams and a circular window at each end. Head height is reduced there, so take care.

The fully enclosed garden has a patio with a table and chairs, a charcoal barbecue and a lawn. Two cars fit in the private, secure parking. No children or infants can be accommodated. Alternative changeover days can be asked about by phone.

Two dogs are allowed, and extra charges may apply. It suits a couple, with or without dogs, who want a quiet base within walking distance of the town.
