Sunnyside - Bothenhampton

Sunnyside is a terraced cottage for five in Bothenhampton, a village less than a mile from Bridport, and about a mile from the coast at West Bay. It sits on a raised pavement above the village lane. The pub and the shop are 0.5 miles away. Up to two dogs may stay, for an additional charge. The cottage does not accept children under the age of 3.

Two steps lead up into a flagstone hall. The open-plan kitchen, sitting and dining room has oak and flagstone floors and a woodburner, with logs and coal included from October to the end of April, but not kindling or firelighters. The kitchen has an electric oven, a gas hob, a fridge, a microwave and a dishwasher. The utility room has a tumble dryer, a washing machine and a freezer, and up one step from it is a ground-floor shower room with a WC.

Two bedrooms are on the first floor: a king-size with a Victorian fireplace and a Smart TV, and a double overlooking the rear garden. The family bathroom has a bath, a handheld shower and a WC. A spiral staircase with open treads leads to the single bedroom on the second floor, which has a reduced ceiling height in the eaves.

The rear courtyard is enclosed, paved in flagstone and planted with honeysuckle and ferns. From it, 12 steps lead up to the sloping garden, which has a terrace with seating, and a charcoal barbecue is available. Parking is on the street, on the village lane nearby. It suits a family of five with children aged 3 or over who are fine with steps, steep stairs and a garden on a slope.
