The Abbey Grange

The Abbey Grange is a listed former monastic grange that dates back to the 15th century, standing in countryside near Charmouth, 3.8 miles away. The shop, the pub and the beach are 3.7 to 3.9 miles from the door, so this is a stay for people with a car. Off-road parking is provided. A private entrance leads through an original Tudor archway into the entrance hall, and further inside an old prayer room once used by monks is now a games space with a mini pool table.

The kitchen/diner has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, a washing machine, a kettle and a toaster. The dual-aspect sitting room has a woodburning stove and a Smart TV, and WiFi is included. Oil central heating, fuel and power, bed linen and towels are all covered by the rent. There is a separate WC, a highchair and a travel cot are available on request, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

Upstairs are a king-size bedroom, which can take an extra single bed on request without raising the limit of six guests, a twin and a double, sharing one bathroom with a bath and a shower over it. Because of the building's age, the first floor has uneven floors, steps and areas of restricted head height. Outside is a large enclosed lawned garden with picnic benches. Next to the house is a partially enclosed barn, shared with the attached property, with two table tennis tables, a skittle alley and a medium-sized snooker table. This house can also be booked together with the attached property for up to 10 guests.

Three well-behaved pets are welcome, and smoking is not allowed. The grange suits a family or a group of friends of up to six who want a games barn on site and don't mind low ceilings and uneven floors.
