The Cider Press, Motcombe, Shaftesbury

The Cider Press is a two-bedroom cottage on the rural edge of Motcombe, a village three miles from Shaftesbury. It is one of three adjoining cottages at East Coppleridge Farm, set off a country lane. Inside, a vaulted open-plan room combines the sitting area and dining area, and the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge with an ice box.

There are two bedrooms: a double and a single, so the cottage sleeps three. They share a shower room with a shower, basin and WC. Heating is by gas central heating, and the rent covers fuel, power, bed linen and towels. The TV has Freeview, WiFi is provided, and there is a selection of books to borrow.

Outside, a gravel garden at the front has a picnic bench, and off-road parking takes one car. The Coppleridge Inn is two minutes' walk away across the lane, and the village shop is eight minutes on foot. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Smoking is not allowed. There are steps up to the cottage.

The owner takes one booking a week and changes over on Fridays, so a short break cannot cross a Friday. The cottage suits a couple or a parent and child who would like a village pub on the doorstep, with a dog if they wish.
