Brook Cottage

Brook Cottage is a single-storey barn conversion built across a stream in the village of Milton on Stour, 2 miles from Gillingham, with Motcombe nearby. Everything is on the ground floor, and exposed beams run through the open-plan living area, which has a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with an electric fire.

The double bedroom has a high-beamed ceiling and looks over the stream, and the second bedroom is a twin, so it sleeps four. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over. Storage heaters warm the cottage, and the kitchen has an electric oven with a halogen hob, a microwave, a fridge and a washing machine. There is WiFi, a TV with a basic Sky package, a DVD player, and a cot and highchair on request. All fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included.

A large enclosed paved patio with garden furniture sits beside the stream. The stream is fully fenced off, but young children should still be supervised. Parking is off the road for two cars. One well-behaved dog is welcome for a weekly charge, and smoking is not allowed. The shop is an 8 minute walk and the bar in the local hotel 10 minutes. The owner runs a small touring caravan site at Milton Farm, some distance away and out of sight. It suits two couples, or a family with a baby, who like a quiet village.
