Rectory Coach House

Rectory Coach House is a semi-detached cottage in the grounds of the Victorian rectory at Buckhorn Weston, a village on the Dorset and Somerset border. The rectory dates from 1861 and is now the owner's home, while the cottage was once the stable for the rector's horses and carriage. For the surrounding area, see our Motcombe guide.

Downstairs, the oak-floored sitting room has a wall-mounted flame-effect fire and opens onto a private enclosed patio with furniture and a Spanish-style coal barbecue. The kitchen has a dining area, an electric double oven, a halogen hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a washer/dryer and a slimline dishwasher. Upstairs are a double and a twin bedroom, both with sloping ceilings in the eaves but ample headroom, and the master has views across the countryside. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over.

Solar panels generate all the electricity. Two cars can park off the road. The property has electric security gates, and a refundable security deposit for their use is paid directly to the owner; check electric vehicle charging with the owner before you book. The pub is a two minute walk and the shop 3 miles. The property is not suitable for children under 2, including babies in arms, and there are no stag or hen parties, pets or smoking. It suits two couples, or a family with older children.
