The Cow Stalls Old Boywood Farm

The Cow Stalls is a three-bedroom cottage on the owners' smallholding at Old Boywood Farm, close to Hazelbury Bryan and Sturminster Newton. It sleeps six. The pub in Hazelbury Bryan is a mile away by footpath across the fields, and the shop is also a mile off. With farmland all round, the nights are dark enough for stargazing.

You walk in through a walled garden to an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining room with a beamed ceiling, two sofas, a Smart TV, a DVD player and a wood burner; the first basket of logs is included and more can be bought on site. The kitchen has an oven, an induction hob, a microwave, a Nespresso machine and a dishwasher, with a washer/dryer and a fridge/freezer in the utility room. There are two king-size bedrooms and a twin zip-and-link room that can be made up as a super-king when requested at booking. Each bedroom has a TV, and two rooms are en-suite showers while the third has an adjacent bathroom with a shower over the bath. A cloakroom WC is separate. Two highchairs and two cots are available.

Guests have the exclusive use of a private wildflower meadow, where a wood-fired hot tub stands on raised decking reached by walkways. The first two burns of wood are included, more can be bought on site, and from the first burn the tub takes 2.5 to 3 hours to reach temperature. Towels for the hot tub are provided, but bring your own footwear and robes. A games room has table football, and there are croquet, quoits and giant Jenga on the lawn. Bicycles can be stored in the games room, and EV charging is available directly with the owner. Parking is off-road. The beach is 26 miles away.

Dogs are not allowed. The Cow Stalls suits three couples or a family of six who want a hot tub and a games room more than a seaside base.
