The Old Barn

The Old Barn is a detached stone barn conversion on the owner's working farm at Harman's Cross, at the foot of Nine Barrow Down on the Isle of Purbeck. Langton Matravers is nearby, and Swanage is 2.5 miles away. Inside it sleeps ten across four bedrooms: a ground-floor double, two family rooms that each hold a double and a single bed, and a further double room.

Bathing is split between a ground-floor wet room with a shower, basin and WC and a bathroom with a bath, basin and WC. The kitchen has a dining area, and the sitting room has a woodburner; the rent includes fuel, power and a starter pack for the woodburner. Oil central heating is supplemented by underfloor heating on the ground floor. Appliances include an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a dishwasher. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate can be requested. Stairs from the entrance hall lead up to a mezzanine landing above the kitchen and dining area.

A gravelled area at the front has furniture, and three cars can park off the road. Marked footpaths into the Purbeck Hills start at the doorstep. The Swanage Railway line runs about 200 yards away, there is an agricultural workshop at the back, and some external steps lead up to the property. A shop is a 10 minute walk and a pub 1.5 miles away. No pets or smoking are allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits one large family or two groups of friends sharing.
