The Old Butchers

The Old Butchers is a former village butcher's more than 300 years old, standing in a row of stone cottages in Burton Bradstock. It sleeps eight across four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The first floor has two super-king bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a twin whose beds can be made up as a king on request at booking. A second twin is on the top floor, up steep cottage stairs, with reduced headroom in the eaves.

Downstairs there is a snug and a sitting room, each with a gas flame-effect wood burner, a dining room that seats the whole group, and a beamed kitchen with a range cooker, a dishwasher, a butler sink and a speaker system. The utility room has a microwave, a fridge/freezer and a washing machine. The games room holds a darts board, a snooker table and table tennis, and bicycles can be stored securely in it. The family bathroom has a claw-foot bath and a separate shower, and a shower room is on the ground floor.

French doors lead from the dining room and kitchen to the fully enclosed, south-facing garden, which has a patio and, up four steps, a lawn. Barbecues are not allowed because the roof is thatched. Parking is at the roadside for two cars outside the cottage, subject to availability.

Two dogs are allowed, but not upstairs, and stairgates are available. Extra charges may apply. The shop and pub are within 200 metres and the beach is within 0.5 mile. It suits two families or a group of friends who want a games room and plenty of bathrooms.
