The Old Mill Corfe Mullen

The Old Mill is a Grade II listed property in the village of Corfe Mullen, on the A31 and beside the river, near Wimborne Minster. It sleeps six in three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, and there is no WiFi. Because it is a period building, it has low ceilings, high thresholds, steep stairs and uneven floors.

The dining room has a large table and a utility area with a microwave, a fridge, a freezer and a washing machine, and it leads to the kitchen. The lounge has exposed beams, a fireplace, a wood burner (logs are included) and a futon. There is a Smart TV, a Blu-ray player and a hi-fi. A WC is on the ground floor, tucked under the stairs.

One double has a handcrafted four-poster bed. A loft chill-out room has a secret door to the twin, and the family bathroom, with a shower over the bath and a WC, completes the sleeping floors.

A walkway over the river leads to an island garden with furniture and a BBQ hut. Paddleboards and bikes are available to guests. The river and stream are fast-moving and there are ponds, so everyone needs to take care and children should never be left unattended. Parking is ample and off-road. Four dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. A riverside pub is within walking distance and the beach is six miles away. A travel cot and highchair are available. The house suits a group who are comfortable with a period building and keep a close eye on children near water.
