The Old Post Office Cottage

The Old Post Office Cottage is a detached house in the south-east Dorset countryside near Wareham, reached along a tree-lined lane. It was the village post office once, and a post box is still set into the front wall. The kitchen diner has flagstone flooring, a large dining table and an electric Aga alongside a double oven and two hot plates. The house also has a utility room, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a dishwasher and a fridge/freezer.

The bedrooms are a king-size double, a double, a twin and a children's single, with a stair gate, cot and high chair available. The house is only suitable for six adults and two children. A bathroom with a bath is on the ground floor and a shower room is on the first floor. Downstairs there is a sitting room with a wood burner and a reading room whose doors open to the patio, and a wood burner is to replace the open fire in the lounge. Gas central heating is installed, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included. A first basket of logs is provided in autumn and winter, and guests bring their own cot linen.

The garden wraps around the house, and parking is allocated off-street for up to four cars. Barbecues are strictly prohibited because trees surround the house. WiFi is fitted, but broadband speed varies with the rural location. No pets and no smoking. Kimmeridge Bay is a 10-minute drive away.

With a sitting room, a reading room, a big kitchen table and four bedrooms, it suits a family or friends travelling together who want a base with room to spread out.
