Whitchurch - The Stable

The Stable is one of two detached barn conversions on the edge of a working farm at Whitchurch Canonicorum. It sleeps six across three bedrooms: two doubles, one with an en-suite shower room, and a twin. A separate bathroom has a shower over the bath, and there is a further WC. The rooms are arranged on one level.

Kitchen, dining table and lounge share one open-plan space. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a washing machine. The lounge has a wood burner and a TV, and the first basket of logs is supplied from the beginning of October until the end of March. A hairdryer is provided.

French doors open from the lounge onto a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue, with an enclosed lawn beyond. One dog is allowed, and additional charges may apply. Parking is off-road and ample. The cottage cannot charge an electric car under any circumstances, so the nearest charge points, in Charmouth, Chideock, West Bay, Bridport and Axminster, are worth knowing before you arrive.

The main farm is a mile along the road, or under a mile on foot across the fields, and guests are welcome to watch the robotic milking or meet the cows and sheep. The beach and shops are 3 miles away, and a pub is within walking distance. The Stable suits a family or two couples who want a farm setting and have a car for the coast and the shops.
