Winkle Cottage

Winkle Cottage stands just off Hope Square and Brewer's Quay in Weymouth, and the harbour is a two-minute walk away. The cottage dates from the 1850s and has been refurbished. The living room is open plan with the dining area, and the kitchen and a cloakroom lead off it. The kitchen has an electric oven, an induction hob, a fridge, a microwave and a dishwasher.

Three bedrooms sleep six. A king-size and a twin are on the first floor, along with the shower room, which has a large walk-in rain shower, a basin and a heated towel rail. A second king-size, with windows on two sides, is up another flight on the top floor. A window at the rear of the house gives views of some of the harbour and the bay. A highchair and a travel cot are available on request.

Behind the house, the enclosed garden has a courtyard, a raised gravelled area and furniture. An outhouse in the garden holds a washing machine and a freezer. Parking is free and first come, first served, on the road or in spaces to the side of the cottage reached from Franchise Street. Pay and display car parks at Nothe, about five minutes away on foot, and Weymouth Old Town West, two minutes away, are further options; the latter has a parking-eye camera.

Pets, smoking and vaping are not allowed, a good-housekeeping bond is payable, and arrivals are on Saturdays only, with a seven-night minimum in August. The cottage suits two couples, or a family of up to six, who want king-size beds and a courtyard a short walk from the harbour.
